The aim of AdmiNet

AdmiNet aims to become a Cyber-Documentation Center delivering general information about governmental authorities and public services.

General principles

Note that public information is obviously often freely available, although frequently only on printed papers.

Some restrictions

The history of AdmiNet

AdmiNet was originally based on an idea of Christian Scherer. It was developed with the help of system managers and software developers working in the Ecole des Mines de Paris since the end of '94.

Christian Scherer is a worker of the French Ministry of Industry. He first collected a lot of non-confidential information, in order to offer it for free public consultation through the Net. in order to offer it to free public consultation through the Net.

The AdmiNet project received encouragements of Jean-Paul BAQUIAST, the former Secretary of the french Comité Interministériel pour l'Informatique et la Bureautique dans l'Administration who created the French AdmiRoutes association. It was decided to offer versions in three languages simultaneously, namely, English, French and Spanish.

During April '96, a new front page was developed for AdmiNet by Christophe Baubert and Arnaud Ventura).

We had discussions with La Documentation Française which recently opened its own site, AdmiFrance AdmiFrance, whose aims are strongly related to AdmiNet's aims.

Please note that the definitive main address of AdmiNet is now http://www.adminet.com/
AdmiNet's mirrors are now fully on-line at :

Of course the huge task of AdmiNet has not yet been completely achieved, and obviously never will be...

How it was supported till now ?

Jacques LEVY, Directeur de l'Ecole des Mines de Paris, and his managing staff agreed to support the AdmiNet service on their host computers for a short experimentation period.

We would also express thanks to the efficient support provided by the technical services of the French Ministry of Industry :
